“Detox” Patches
General
Flexi-Patch is a CIRCULATION patch. Detox is a secondary benefit and principally occurs as a result of healthy circulation and through normal body channels such as sweat and urine.
Claim that "detox" mainly occurs when toxins are drawn into the patch.
Colour change of the patch caused by reaction of powdered material (which is hygroscopic - attracts water) with moisture.
Claim that brown colour IS the toxin.
Effective whether dry or wet after use. Patches will always come off wet after use when applied to soles of the feet where reflex zones are located. On other parts of the body, patch may come off completely dry and the effect will still be there.
Must be wet after use and claim that when used for a period of time on the soles of the feet, patches will eventually come off dry.
There is no “detoxed” state. Ideal state is “balanced” and therefore healthy where natural creation of “toxins” is matched by rate of removal.
Imply that there is a “detoxed” state.

Ingredients & Patch Materials
Mandarin wood vinegar manufactured in a system that produces food grade (drinkable) vinegar. Aged for 6-12 months to get best quality.
Bamboo vinegar that is a by-product of bamboo charcoal production. Cannot be consumed. Some claim bamboo vinegar stored for 9- 15 years which is a lie (eg. consider storage issues)
Mandarin wood vinegar has 16% organic acids. Weight for weight, more active ingredients per gram.
Bamboo vinegar has 6% organic acids.
Conversion method of vinegar liquid to powder form is proprietary and results in a powder that carries between 42-50% vinegar.
Conversion method typically used such as spray drying will result in a vinegar powder with very low vinegar / high starch content. Therefore contents in patch seem to “melt” away when wet and become very sticky. Some harden entirely upon drying.
Tourmaline 1-2% maximum. Black Brazilian type in NANO FORM (unique to Flexi-Patch). Tourmaline proportion in the patches determined by observation of effect of patches as percentage of this crystal powder is increased. Excess tourmaline hinders action of vinegar powder. More is not better!!
Some claim patches containing up to 50% tourmaline. Discrepancy between actual content and claims of high tourmaline to try to address other competing claims about high negative ion output (see next point). Would be extremely simple to create a patch with 100% tourmaline in this case.
Does not claim negative ion generation. No undisclosed ionizing material in Flexi-Patch.
Claims of high negative ion concentration. Whilst negative ions are good and generally found near waterfalls and the beach, such ion production in nature requires an energy source. The patches that claim negative ion production do not have an obvious source of energy and therefore any such patch must contain other undisclosed ionizing material. An example of a source of energy would be radioactive decay.
Green Tea is present to act as an antioxidant (skin protection) if and when the patch is wet during use.
Generally have multiple ingredients such as mushrooms, chitosan etc. Many such ingredients are great nutritional supplements but have no value when used externally in a patch. Inclusion primarily for label claim. At best of no value although these have taken up “room” that could have been better used. At worst, may hinder patch effect.
Adhesive type is specified to be “hypoallergenic”. Adhesive was chosen that had been dermatologically tested.
Not specified.
Patch paper in contact with the skin is “diaper” material. Backing material is air permeable but not moisture permeable. Result is a soft patch which does not suffocate the skin but which does not leak either.
Patch paper is “harder” and not as malleable. Sometimes includes a foil type material as backing. This foil material reflects heat (can be suffocating) and result is a patch that wets rapidly. Defeating the purpose of the product trying to promote health.
Flexi-Patch contains at least 5 grams net weight of active ingredients. This is normally higher than imitation products that carry between 3.8 – 4.5 grams net weight.
Typically 4.0 – 4.5 grams net weight.
Usage
Use on both soles of feet before sleep. Consistent with foot reflexology where both feet are treated.
Some advise use on one foot and then to alternate. Obviously do not understand the premise of reflexology or the patch!
